Rapid deployment readiness is of great importance to NATO. It demonstrates the ability of NATO Allies to respond quickly and defend each other against threats from all directions.

In this video, the former British Army general who led Operation Tractable in 2019, a mass deployment of British soldiers and vehicles from the UK to Estonia, explains what it takes to move an army rapidly across Europe.

The footage includes original sound from Ivan Jones, former commander of the British Army, as well as shots of British troops, tanks and vehicles in motion.

Filming took place before COVID-19 restrictions.
