The UCSS crew discusses who on the Cavaliers' roster will benefit most from playing in the motion attack style. The Cleveland Cavaliers have a core of four All-Star players looking to take the next step in their player development.

Will anyone take a step back in the new offensive?

Kenny Atkinson's first tenure as NBA head coach ended with a sudden, strange breakup in Brooklyn.

He hopes for a long-term relationship in Cleveland.

The Cavaliers on Friday agreed to a five-year deal with Atkinson, who spent the last three seasons as an assistant at Golden State and now takes over a Cleveland team that is making its second consecutive playoff appearance.

By choosing the highly regarded Atkinson, the Cavs ended a months-long search that began after the firing of JB Bickerstaff, who led the team to 99 wins over the past two seasons. Bickerstaff was fired after Cleveland lost to Boston in five games in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

“Kenny brings a wealth of experience, a proven track record of player development and a tireless work ethic that aligns with the vision we have for this franchise,” said Koby Altman, the team’s president of basketball operations.

"His experience coaching alongside some of the NBA's best players adds value to this partnership and we are excited to have Kenny lead our team and help us achieve our goals both on and off the court," Altman added.
