These are the important points to include in your partnership agreement. There are many ways to handle each point. When I walk clients through these points, I explain many different options that they may not have considered before. For example, equal partners do not have to be paid equally. If one partner does most of the work, that partner can take a higher salary if that is acceptable. Ownership remains 50/50 despite different salaries.

If one partner contributes a larger portion of the startup capital, but the partners still want a 50/50 arrangement, part of a partner's contribution may be treated as a loan that must be repaid by the business.
