The FCRA protects you from false credit reports.

It regulates credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian and Transunion).

The FCRA controls what are known as “vendors,” that is, the companies that actually provide (or supply) information to credit reporting agencies.

The law basically states that if you, as a consumer, have a dispute with a credit reporting agency, the agency must conduct an investigation (a real one, not a fake one) and correct any errors.

If not, you can sue for damages for emotional distress, economic damages, statutory damages, punitive damages, attorney's fees, etc.

While agencies and providers may want to strip away your rights under this law, every jury and most judges have been in the situation of credit problems at some point, so these efforts to strip away your rights have been unsuccessful.

If you have any questions about the FCRA or your credit reports, please feel free to call us at 205-879-2447 or contact us through our website at www.AlabamaConsumer.com.
