Alpha, Beta and Gamma in software testing:
Alpha (α) and beta (β) are the first two letters of the Greek alphabet and are therefore referred to as the first and second phases of software testing. These terms originate from the time when the first commercial data processing machines were used. The hardware first went through an initial alpha test to test the preliminary functionality of the product. Then came beta testing, which involved people other than the developers to check the end-user functionality.

Alpha test:
Alpha testing is the first phase of software testing after development. Alpha testing is usually performed by the company's internal testing teams at the developer's site.
Alpha testing behaves like usability testing. Alpha testing is generally performed by internal programmers or developers.

Beta test:
Beta testing of a product is performed by “real users” of the software application in a “real environment” and can be considered a form of external user acceptance testing.
The beta version of the software is made available to a limited number of end users of the product to obtain feedback on product quality. Beta testing reduces the risk of product failure and ensures higher product quality through customer validation.

Gamma test:
This is the final testing phase and is performed when the product is ready for release with specific requirements. Not all internal testing activities that are supposed to be performed in this testing phase are performed on the product.
During this phase, no changes to the product are possible, except for the necessary correction of critical errors.
