According to my dictionary, a backlog is a collection of unfinished work or matters that need to be done. In this video I want to answer the questions "What is a product backlog and what is a sprint backlog?"

A backlog is a list (usually structured by priority) of all user requirements. These are formulated in story format – watch our video on "What are epics, user stories and story points?" https://youtu.be/ogV2r9579WI

Backlogs typically consist of features that the team needs to build, but they can also contain:
• Bugs to fix
• Changes to be made
• To carry out technical research
• Supporting assets or infrastructure to build

In Scrum…
At the beginning of each sprint, a Scrum Team creates requirements to work on during the sprint. This part of the product backlog is the sprint backlog.

The sprint backlog articulates the work that developers want to accomplish during the sprint.

In Kanban…
The team creates requirements that are continually worked on.

Maintaining a product backlog
This roadmap will be continually reviewed as new requirements arise and priorities shift.
Product owners should review the backlog to ensure that all feedback from the team is taken into account and that prioritization meets user needs. This regular review of the backlog is often referred to as "backlog grooming" or "backlog refinement."

In the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) has a series of backlogs of different sizes instead of a simple product backlog.

A while ago I asked project managers in some forums what material things they needed for their work as project managers. The answers were great. I compiled their answers in a kit list.
