1.Where are you from?
My parents are both Mexican immigrants. I was born and raised in California, USA and currently live in San Jose, CA, USA with my spouse and our pets (Estrellita and Skye).

2. How long have you been teaching?
Over 8 years of full-time teaching – prior to that I taught private classes for 6 years. I have now been working with teens and young adults in California for over 4 years. Before that I taught ESL/ELD classes at a middle school in Dallas, TX for 3 years as well as evening classes at an adult language school.

3. How many languages do you speak?
Well, I speak 2 fluently and even more… πŸ™‚
English fluently
Spanish fluent

4. What age groups have you worked with?
Pretty much all ages over 10. I've worked with middle school (ages 11-14), college (ages 17-23), and older working adults (ages 23+).

5. Have you always wanted to be a teacher?
I always wanted to be someone who helped a lot of people in some way, but no. I didn't know that was something I wanted to do until I volunteered at an elementary school my freshman year of college. Growing up, I also wanted to be a firefighter, a pediatrician, a professional pianist, and an archaeologist specializing in Egyptian history *hieroglyphics fascinated me as a child*

6. Why teach English?
Why not? lol… honestly, it's been so enriching to meet people from different cultural backgrounds and also learn from them while teaching them English, for example, learning about their traditions, food, languages, life experiences, etc. So even though teaching English online is super fun, I also love interacting with people as much as possible, online and in person.

7. Do you offer online courses?
Since I teach in person, I do not currently offer online courses. I hope to create my own website with more resources for English learners in the next year.
