Let's examine unfair labor practices under the National Labor Relations Act. Unfair labor practices (ULPs) are violations of the NLRA that deprive workers of rights and benefits and can be the result of employer or union activities.

Such violations include threatening to take away jobs or benefits from employees who try to form a union, transferring employees to less attractive jobs than their current ones if they engage in union activity, or telling them that they will receive better benefits if they do not join a union.

Although the law described these practices as “unfair,” it did not classify them as criminal offenses, nor did it impose any penalties or fines on individuals or organizations for their occurrence.
