Rosalinde confronts the audience with the stress culture that prevails in universities and in society in general. On this basis, she presents the tools that students and staff can use to change university culture for the better. Rosalinde Spitters knows what goes on within the walls of the academic world when it comes to high stress levels and is ready to advocate for change. After completing her propedeuse in law at the University of Amsterdam, she decided to study cultural anthropology at Leiden University. After her bachelor's degree, she stayed in Leiden to start and successfully complete her master's degree in Global Economy and Culture. In addition to experiencing student life and the problems associated with it herself, Rosalinde also worked as a student assistant during her bachelor's degree; not only with university students, but also with high school students. After completing her master's degree, her path led her to become a study advisor, coordinator and became involved in the Skills Academy.
Her personal experiences made her question the current university culture. Through her work, she has witnessed the huge impact on people's lives: mentally, socially and physically, leading to unhealthy lifestyles not only among students but also their colleagues or other staff. By connecting all these stories, Rosalinde inspires us to join forces and create a change to improve the well-being that our universities create. She proposes a new model of "sustainable university culture" that aims at a more pleasant work environment, a more realistic workload and personal feedback. This talk was given at a TEDx event held in the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. For more information, visit https://www.ted.com/tedx
