If you define it by gameplay, The Beginner's Guide doesn't really have any rules. It's more in the realm of interactive fiction than objective-based gameplay.
However, if you define it based on critical reception, the first rule of the “Beginner’s Guide” is not to talk about the “Beginner’s Guide”!
