When you first see your baby do this, you may feel the urge to stop them because you are worried about the potential downsides. But while there are downsides, the developmental benefits far outweigh them. For this reason, I strongly recommend that you let your baby suck their fingers or put their hands in their mouth rather than trying to stop them.

In this video, you'll learn why it's an important part of their development and how it helps with things like nutrition, calming, strengthening their immune system, and more.
