When you rebase a branch onto another branch, you apply the commits of the first branch to the head commit in the second branch.
Let's say you've created a feature branch to work on a specific task and you make multiple commits to that branch. While you're developing in your branch, your teammates continue to commit their work to the main branch. When you rebase, you merge changes you made in your feature branch into the main branch by applying your commits to the current HEAD commit in the master branch.
