An ethical framework is a statement of an organization's purpose, values and principles. It makes clear what the organization believes in and what standards it upholds.

It is a guide for good decision-making and – when lived throughout the organization – also a guide for making an organization the best version of itself.

Trying to make a decision without knowing your goals, values and principles is like being at sea without a rudder. They are blown back and forth by the winds of our desires, our mood, our subconscious, our group dynamics and our social norms. The decisions they make are not really their own.

We have created a free guide for small and medium-sized businesses that explains how to set up their own ethics framework (purpose, values and principles). You can download it for free here:

ABOUT THE ETHICS CENTER

The Ethics Center is an independent non-profit organization committed to a more ethical society.

As a team of innovators, thought leaders and conveners of people and ideas, we offer a range of services including innovative programs, consulting, leadership and an ethics hotline designed to put ethics at the heart of everyday life.

The aim of our work is to diagnose, prevent and correct the causes of ethical failure, to increase ethical competence through education and information and to develop tools that enable informed decision-making.

The center's programs are known for increasing public awareness and understanding and creating space for open, honest and often difficult conversations.

This year, the Ethics Center is celebrating its 30th anniversary and we see it as our task to continue to work towards a better world in the next 30 years through education, commitment and information.
