Diesel generator
—————————–
If you can afford it, a diesel generator is a great thing to have. Even a small generator can produce a lot of power and is quite inexpensive to run. The only downsides are the cost and maintenance, and the noise.

DC/AC inverter
—————————–
Connect a DC to AC inverter to your car and you have a homemade generator for very little money! If you can afford it, go for a pure sine wave inverter.

USB power banks
—————————–
The cost of lithium-ion or lithium-polymer power banks has dropped tremendously in recent years, and a true 20,000mAh power bank can be had for under $20. It's best to opt for a Quick Charge 3.0 compatible power bank and charger so it can charge as quickly as possible.

Power bank with AC socket
—————————–
Believe it or not, there are now power banks with built-in AC outlets. They aren't cheap and they don't have super high capacity. But they are extremely easy and convenient to use.

Jumpstart Power Bank DC/AC Inverter
—————————–
This is a cheap DIY alternative to power banks with built-in AC outlets. Most jump starter power banks can also be powered by a DC/AC inverter, but be careful with heavy continuous loading as this could cause the batteries to overheat.

Desktop UPS
—————————–
A UPS isn't limited to just running your computer. Forget the computer, and it can run your modem or WiFi router and your cell phone charger for much longer.

Portable USB solar panels
—————————–
While they aren't the best value for money, they work and not much can go wrong. Just plug your phone or power bank into the solar panel and place it in the sun.

Traditional solar energy
With the solar panel charge controller and deep cycle battery, you have a traditional solar system. Add a DC to AC inverter to power home appliances.

Intelligent charger for deep cycle batteries
—————————–
The best energy storage for off-grid power is deep cycle batteries combined with a high amperage smart charger. When your home has power, the batteries charge. When there's a power outage, you draw power from your batteries.
