Great user experience design has become the driving force behind successful products – at the expense of happiness, sanity and meaning. It's time for UX design to evolve. Johannes Ippen is a designer and writer from Berlin. He currently runs Human Deluxe, an experience design studio and consultancy focused on human-brand relationships.

Before that, he was responsible for product marketing at mobile games developer Wooga, which has developed hit games such as Jelly Splash, Pearl's Peril and Diamond Dash. As founder of the Thanksalot Design Collective, he has developed and launched several successful products such as Aside Magazine, MagazineGrid and Graphical Cooking. Johannes has written four bestsellers on digital product design and development, published by Rheinwerk Verlag. He teaches UX design and information architecture at the Design Akademie Berlin, where he graduated in 2009.

Originally from Berlin, he likes French punk rock, well-designed infographics (preferably about food), and really strong espresso. This talk was given at a TEDx event, which used the TED conference format but was independently organized by a local community. For more information, visit https://www.ted.com/tedx
