How can policy best tackle inequality? As the global financial crisis of 2008 showed, the benefits of economic growth do not accrue to everyone. For a sustainable recovery, growth must be inclusive. The OECD has launched the Centre for Opportunity and Equality to support its research and provide a forum for discussion on how best to address inequalities in areas such as income, wealth, health and education, and their social and economic consequences, through policy. Policies must be redesigned to promote growth and inclusiveness so that everyone, everywhere can benefit from the prosperity generated by economic growth.

About the OECD

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organisation founded in 1960 that works to develop better policies for better lives. Our aim is to develop policies that promote prosperity, equality, opportunity and well-being for all. We work with governments, policy makers, politicians and citizens to set evidence-based international standards and find solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges.

From improving economic performance and creating jobs to promoting quality education and fighting international tax evasion, we provide a unique forum and knowledge centre for data and analysis, sharing experiences, sharing best practices, and advising on public policy and international standard setting. For more information about the OECD, our global reach and how to join us, visit https://www.oecd.org/about/. Stay up to date with the latest developments at the OECD at https://www.oecd.org/.
