This update has six main goals:
– Make security and privacy controls more results-oriented by changing the structure of controls;

– Full integration of data protection controls into the security controls catalogue, creating a consolidated and consistent set of controls for information systems and organizations

– Separation of the control selection process from the actual controls: system engineers, software developers, enterprise architects and mission/business owners

-Promote integration with different approaches and vocabularies on risk management and cybersecurity, including the Cybersecurity Framework

-Clarify the relationship between security and privacy to improve the selection of measures needed to address the full scope of security and privacy risks
