New guide concept – spacing of rod guides for building or modifying rods

This video is the first in a series covering the process of modifying a vertical crappie jigging rod into a long, ultralight spinning rod with better casting distance.

Fuji came up with this layout and then showed in RodMaker Magazine how it can be easily created using some simple calculations.

I've started working on a rod modification project that I've been putting off for a while. While I was finalizing the guide spacing, I thought I'd post a video showing a little bit about the New Guide Concept method of rod guide placement. While I'm not building this rod exactly like that, I thought it was close enough to talk about the technique.
