Award-winning academic and management professor Margaret Neale, co-author of Getting (More of) What You Want, admits she doesn't always follow her own advice. In an honest conversation about her personal experiences and based on her philosophy that "you can't force anyone to say yes," Neale explains why her horse Sal might be the best reminder that successful negotiation is not a battle.

Margaret Neale is the Adams Distinguished Professor of Management at Stanford's Graduate School of Business. She is the recipient of the Robert T. Davis Award for Lifetime Achievement and has served as GSB's Academic Associate Dean. She is the author of over 70 articles, a research series, and four books. Her most recent book, co-authored with Thomas Lys, Getting (More of) What You Want, was published last year by Basic Books.

This talk was delivered at a TEDx event that used the TED conference format but was independently organized by a local community. For more information, visit http://ted.com/tedx
