Named Credentials Superbadge Unit | Challenge 1

The Named Credentials Superbadge in Salesforce is designed to help you understand and implement Named Credentials and how they fit into Salesforce's authentication and authorization frameworks. Here is a general guide to help you with Unit Challenge 1:

Unit 1: Setting up named credentials
Objective:

Create a named credential to establish a secure connection between Salesforce and an external system.
Steps:

Navigate to “Named Credentials”:

Go to Setup.
In the Quick Find box, type "Credentials by Name."
Click on “Credentials with Name”.
Create a new credential with name:

Click New Credential with Name.
Enter the following details:
Name: A descriptive name for your named credential (e.g., “My External API”).
Name: A unique API name (e.g. "My_External_API").
URL: The base URL of the external system (e.g. https://api.example.com).
Identity Type: Choose the appropriate option based on the requirements of your external system. Common options are:
Named Principal: When you use the same credentials for all users.
Per user: When each user must authenticate individually.
Authentication protocol: Select the authentication method (e.g. No authentication, Basic authentication, OAuth 2.0).
Username: Enter the username if you are using basic authentication.
Password: Enter the password if you use basic authentication.
OAuth2.0:
If you use OAuth 2.0, you need to set up the OAuth settings such as client ID, client secret, and token endpoint URL.
Save your named credentials:

Click Save to create the credential with name.
Examination:

Make sure the named credential is set up correctly by doing the following:
Verify that the URL and authentication details are correct.
Verify that the named credential appears in the list with the correct label and settings.
Common problems and tips:
Incorrect URL or authentication details: Double-check the URL and authentication details. Errors in these fields are common and can cause connection issues.
Permissions: Ensure that the user's profile or permission set has access to the named credentials.
Testing: Use tools like Postman or a similar API client to test the external system's API separately before setting up the named credential in Salesforce.
If you encounter specific problems or error messages, providing details about them can help with further troubleshooting. Good luck with your challenge!
