3.5 years ago I participated in my first hackathon and it changed my life. This is that story. Having no programming experience and no idea what a hackathon is, I didn't know what to expect. But I had tons of fun, learned a lot of new things, met cool people and somehow won second place! Most importantly, that hackathon sparked my interest in computer science and technology, so I participated in more and more hackathons (14 and counting) and now I'm a computer science student at the University of Waterloo.

If you have never participated in a hackathon, I recommend you give it a try to learn, meet new people, have fun and get free stuff!
