Windows Server licensing has finally changed. And it's changed dramatically. Microsoft now allows us to license Windows Server per individual virtual machine, both on-premises and with authorized outsourcers.

However, there is a small problem. For many customers, it is not so easy to switch from the existing licensing model to the Per VM licensing model because Microsoft requires two things.

First, they must be subscription licenses in the CSP or licenses with Software Assurance.

And here's the rub. All client access licenses must be either subscription licenses or licenses with Software Assurance. That's it. Here's the news.
