NOTE: This video was made when the FIFTH edition was in effect. Change the word "Control" to "MONITOR" for the SIXTH. The process is pretty much the same except it's called something different!

The key differences are: Managing communication means communicating with stakeholders to share information. By doing this and sharing information, you are implicitly meeting needs that may have been identified in the stakeholder management plan. THE END GOAL IS COMMUNICATION

Managing stakeholder engagement is /"managing relationships with stakeholders/" to effectively engage stakeholders and get them to support, be aware of, and contribute to the project. You need to communicate to manage stakeholder engagement, so it is closely related to communication management.
THE END GOAL IS TO IMPACT THE STAKEHOLDERS/RE-INFLUENCE THE STAKEHOLDERS

Control Communications is about checking the effectiveness of your communications management plan
THE END GOAL IS TO CHANGE THE DAMAGE IN THE COMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT PLAN

Monitoring stakeholder engagement is about checking the effectiveness of your stakeholder management plan.
The ultimate goal is to correct the deficiencies in the stakeholder management plan

When examining, I would look for subtle clues as to what the END GOAL of the process is and that will help.
