I review the Löwe, a German tier 8 premium heavy tank in World of Tanks (WoT), with replays of three tier 10 battles in Murovanka, Steppes, and Serene Coast.

The Löwe was underpowered before 9.17, but received improvements to gun depression, hull armor, and turret armor in 9.17. Thanks to the combination of frontal turret protection, excellent maximum gun depression, and good gun handling, it is now a capable hull-down fighter. However, the player must carefully assess the load on the Löwe, as the tank is slow and has very soft lower frontal armor.

Strengths and weaknesses
+ Excellent maximum gun depression (-10)
+ Excellent accuracy (0.33 base)
+ Excellent Silver AP Penetration (234)
+ Excellent frontal protection of the tower and the dome is small
+ Excellent visibility (400)
+ Good weapon handling
+ The side hull armor is thick enough (100 m) for sidescraping
+ High AP grenade speed (1150)
– Very low DPM (1600 base)
– The lower front glacis is very soft (~140 mm effective armour)
– Very sluggish acceleration
– Very slow torso rotation, turns like a whale
– Low top speed (35)
– Large profile
