As the world's threats and dangers evolve, our tools must evolve too. Sometimes a tool can evolve enough to be useful in a new environment. Other times, a tool needs to be used less or replaced with another.

This lecture addresses several questions:

– Why does the title say “security” twice?
– Why is “C/C++” an important term to embrace and not avoid?
– Is the distinction between C and C++ a True Scotsman problem?
– What is recognizable as “C++” as C++ evolves?
– Why hope for significant improvements in C, C++ and C/C++?

Finally, the talk will also cover some more news about other C++ developments (including reflection!) and my personal ongoing experiment with my cppfront compiler.
