Today I am here to test the password manager Keeper and see if it is a safe choice in 2024.

———————————————–
Security

First of all, it has a multi-layered encryption model, which means that it runs locally on the device and combines two different encryptions so that only encrypted passwords are sent to Keeper's servers. It is an outstanding encryption method that is used by very few top password managers.

Not only does Keeper offer top-notch encryption, but it is also a zero-knowledge service, meaning it has no access to your data, so if there is a hack of its servers, your data is still safe.

Self-destruct function

It lets me delete all locally stored passwords. When I have it turned on, the locally stored vault is deleted after five failed login attempts. While it's probably not necessary, it's still a nice little addition.

Security check function

Security Audit evaluates the strength of my passwords. This tool quickly scans all my passwords and tells me which ones are weak, either because they are reused or because they are not complex enough.

KeeperChat

It is a separate messaging app. All information is locked in a secure vault that can only be accessed after identity verification. It offers much more control than other chat apps like Messenger. It has self-destruct timers for sensitive messages and attachments and also allows me to retract my messages. Additionally, all media is stored in your private gallery separate from your main camera.

One-time release function

The one-time sharing feature is great because I can share passwords and sensitive data even with someone who doesn't have Keeper, be it my colleagues, family or friends. It uses encryption and I can set an expiration date.

Tutorial

To add passwords, first go to settings and click "Import". This will import all the passwords you have in your browser. It works with Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge, Safari and IE if anyone is still using that one for some reason. And yes, it's not just for passwords. For example, under the "Identity and Payments" tab I can store all my card information.

To share passwords, first select a password I want to share in my vault, then click Options, then Share. Note that unlike the One-Time Share feature, this requires the person I'm sharing my password with to also have Keeper.

Final thoughts ️

Keeper is one of the best password managers on the market. Keeper's security is top-notch because it follows strict guidelines and offers unique features that are actually useful. And even though some of the features mentioned are behind a paywall, it's very much worth it because no one else can offer you that.
