Hey guys, what's up!? It's Michael from Nocturnal Simulations. Tired of feeling like your simulator is running on reserve? Are you yearning for that extra bit of power that will make your flights smoother than butter on a warm biscuit? Then buckle up, buttercup, because I've got the settings that will make you dizzy faster than a propeller taking off.

Today we're talking about the Nvidia Control Panel settings and the optimizations I've made over the last few months and learned about from various sources within the flight simulator community.

Keep in mind that these settings have been tried and tested on my computer, so you may need to experiment a bit to find the right settings for you, but I hope this at least gets you started!

The first thing we want to do is open the NVIDIA Control Panel and go to Global Settings under “Manage 3D Settings”.

The only setting we need to adjust is to set the shader cache to Unlimited, this will improve performance.

Now let's move on to the program settings. Set the anisotropic filtering to 16x and you can now disable the simulator settings. This can improve the texture quality in the simulator compared to the simulator settings.

Next, set Low Latency mode to Ultra to reduce input lag and improve responsiveness.

Set the maximum frame rate to 45 FPS. This will keep the frame rate stable and avoid fluctuations.

For OpenGL rendering GPUs, be sure to select your Nvidia card as this will ensure you are using the Nvidia card… just in case.

Then set the power management to "Prefer maximum performance," which prioritizes performance over power efficiency. This will keep the card's clock speed at full speed even in the simulator, so stable temperatures will likely increase a little but avoid fluctuations that can cause stuttering.

Next, you should disable Texture Filtering – Anisotropic Sampling as this can result in blurry textures.

Allowing a negative LOD bias under Texture Filtering will give you better texture quality. Alternatively, you can select Clamp for better performance.
Finally, enable thread optimization to optimize the use of multiple CPU cores.

One final section is under "Video – Adjust video color settings" under "Video". Under "How do I make color adjustments" be sure to click "Using Nvidia Settings". Go to the "Advanced" tab and select "Full" for your dynamic range.

That's all! These settings will help improve performance and increase the visual quality of your Microsoft Flight Simulator experience. Happy flying.
