Phew. This should actually be a trend. Not that it makes me emotional. But my eyes hurt from the tears I'm trying to hold back.

This is my sketchbook from 6th grade. I drew for fun when I wasn't doing homework, studying, or playing tennis. I designed dresses for my Barbies, dance recitals, Halloween, and later in high school, even my friend's prom dress. I ALWAYS just wanted to be a fashion designer.

My parents suppressed my dreams in the hopes of saving me from a risky career, but at the time, it completely destroyed our relationship. I felt so lost, empty and meaningless. I was so angry at them.

I ended up sabotaging myself so I couldn't take the MCAT, but I still got my biology degree, had a brief life in fashion, took random jobs on Craigslist, was on eBay for a while, taught Pilates on YouTube (while they kept asking, "When does school start again?"), and now…

*sigh*

I'm just so grateful. I can't believe I get to live little Cassey's dream.
