Performance metrics are a list of things we look at on RVshare to determine how well you're doing compared to other owners on our site. Good performance metrics increase your RV's appearance in search results and help make your listing more visible to renters. The more visibility your listing gets, the more bookings you'll get. You can find your performance metrics on your owner dashboard.

So what things affect your performance?

First, we have response time. Response time is how quickly you respond to inquiries and booking requests. We recommend responding as quickly as possible, but at least within an hour.

Make sure you never ignore tenants – this feeds into our second key performance indicator – response rate. Response rate measures how often you respond to a tenant request, whether it's a simple question or a booking request. Even if you can't fulfill their request, your response – or lack of response – feeds into your metrics, and tenants appreciate the follow-up either way.

The third metric we look at is acceptance rate. Your acceptance rate is a measure of how often you accept your booking requests. Try to accept all booking requests, not only because it affects your performance, but also because it directly affects how much money you will make. We recommend keeping your calendar up to date. This way, renters won't be able to book even if your unit is unavailable.

Next is our cancellation rate. This is how often you cancel your confirmed bookings. Cancellations should be avoided whenever possible. Even if the renter needs to cancel the booking, be sure to instruct them to do so and avoid doing it yourself so you don't get penalized for the cancellation.

Lastly, we'll look at your expiration rate. This is how often you allow booking requests to expire. This is different from rejecting a booking – a rejection would count negatively against your acceptance rate. If you never respond, it's considered expiration. If you respond quickly and to all requests, this should never be an issue. You have a 24-hour window to accept or reject a booking before it expires, but your ultimate goal is to accept all incoming bookings and respond to all requests in a timely manner.

However, if you really want to take your performance metrics seriously and rank higher in search results, you should use instant booking. The instant booking feature allows renters to book your RV immediately without having to send you a request. Renters love this feature as it makes the booking process easier and more attractive and allows them to book immediately.

But Instant Book also really helps your performance metrics by giving you a 100% response rate, one second response time, and 0% expiration rate!
