How to lubricate a sliding window

When choosing a lubricant, make sure it does not contain oil. NOT WD-40. Spraying that on a vinyl window will make the problem worse as it will build up sludge and make the window harder to smooth out. So you should use a "dry film lubricant" that is sprayed on wet and dries behind itself, leaving a thin dry layer of wax.
