Have you ever wondered if people who "have it all together" really know what they're doing? Could it be that they've simply become experts at overcoming ambiguity? Drawing on personal experiences and interviews with some leaders at the peak of their careers, this talk offers both permission to relax and a call to action. My life's journey began in West Africa, and my family has always been committed to social service. While I am the first to pursue a Masters in Social Work, there are many social workers, including pastors, teachers, therapists, nurses, musicians, artists, historians, and financial advisors. This family dynamic has profoundly shaped my perspective on life, making me hyper-sensitive to the needs of those around me. For most of my life, I have traveled internationally with my family on community service missions. I have participated in medical mission trips, trips to build and strengthen infrastructure and buildings, I have assisted with nutritional needs assessment and fulfillment, educational camps, safety training, and a variety of other activities targeting individuals, families, and communities who are underserved and less fortunate. It is this strong commitment to compassionate equality that drives my life's work. This talk was delivered at a TEDx event in the TED conference format, but was independently organized by a local community. For more information, visit https://www.ted.com/tedx
