I've had my YouTube account for many years now. Over the years, I've received thousands of comments. YouTube gives you the ability to hide comments from a specific user, so to that user it looks like their comment is still on your videos, but in reality it's hidden from all other YouTube users. This is a great option if you don't want to remove the comment completely, which the user could then find out.
Note that it may take up to 48 hours for the user's comments to be hidden from everyone else on YouTube. You also have the option to restore the comments by removing the user from your hidden folder.
