The Net Promoter Score is a customer loyalty index that ranges from -100 to 100. If your company has an NPS score above 0, it is considered a good score. An NPS of 50 and above is great, while a score above 70 is top-notch. However, a score below 0 is bad news. It means you have fewer promoters in your customer pool.
Calculating NPS is pretty straightforward. Follow these steps to calculate the Net Promoter Score for your business.
NPS % Supporters – % Critics
Let's say you have 70 promoters, 30 detractors and 0 passives. Your promoter share is 70, detractor share is 30 and your total NPS is 70-3040. Let's see what happens if you also have 50 passives. The total is 703050 150. Your promoter share is 46.6% while detractor share is 20%. NPS is 26. See the change? NPS has dropped significantly in the latter case. Therefore, you need to pay a lot of attention to passives and detractors and ideally include as many as possible in your promoter pool.
