YouTube royalties are collected in two ways:
1. Through your music distributor. They charge royalties for the use of your master recording on YouTube.
2. Through your publisher or publishing administrator. They will charge royalties for the use of your composition (lyrics) on YouTube.

Note: YouTube only allows you to earn royalties if your channel is monetized. Monetized means ads are shown before/during/after your video is played. To be able to monetize your channel, YouTube requires that your channel has a thousand subscribers and four thousand hours of watch time within the last twelve months.
