Russia's technical infrastructure emerged unscathed from the global IT outage that impacted aviation, banking and other businesses worldwide. Russian officials said on July 19 that the country's airlines and banks did not appear to have been affected by the outage.
The Kremlin said the consequences were largely due to measures taken by Moscow in response to Western sanctions against Russia.
On July 19, Windows 10 users around the world, including airports, banks and broadcasters, experienced serious outages. The cause was a recent update to the US antivirus platform CrowdStrike. Problems were reported from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, Germany, Spain and the USA.
