I downloaded a game a while back and it uses the Steam thing properly, but today it kicked in my Windows Defender and said it was a HackTool:Win32/Crack. I did a bit of digging into the file on VirusTotal and it looks like it's trying to determine that it's a virtual machine and injecting code (most likely a Steam username).
