Alex Mor – Ensuring API security through E2E testing

This presentation took place at the IT security conference #Hacktivity2023 on October 6, 2023.

E2E test engineers are the last hurdle before a change is pushed to production. They could act as security officers. By introducing the API security guarantee into E2E testing and encouraging engineers to develop security edge cases, typically in the form of a threat modeling activity, an application could be continuously designed and tested for security, starting with the MVP release. Can users expect a product to be consistently and continuously secure? Mature continuous integration (CI) practices require product development teams to integrate end-to-end testing into the development process to increase the speed and frequency of deployments without compromising the user experience. This capability is provided by automation test engineers, who create high-quality UI and API automation tests to ensure that end users have a consistent experience with the product, while the development team can validate that the UI and API are robust and flexible enough to withstand edge cases.

#HACKTIVITY is the largest event of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe. Every year, around 1000 visitors from all over the world come to learn about the latest trends in cybersecurity, get inspired by people with similar interests and develop themselves in comprehensive workshops and trainings.
