From Wikipedia:

Twine emphasizes the visual structure of hypertext and, unlike other game development tools, does not require knowledge of many programming languages.[3] This has led video game designer Anna Anthropy to note that the proliferation of small, personal games created in Twine has given game developers from marginalized communities a stronger voice.[4]

Howling Dogs, a Twine-based game by Porpentine, won Best Story and Best Writing at the 2012 XYZZY Awards for Interactive Fiction.[5]

Depression Quest is a 2013 Twine-based game about depression developed by Zoe Quinn.[6] The game and its developer gained attention through the Gamergate controversy.[
