What is FFXIV? Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and macOS. It was developed and published by Square Enix, with Naoki Yoshida as producer and director, and was released worldwide on August 27, 2013. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is set in the fictional land of Eorzea, five years after the events of the original release. At the end of Final Fantasy XIV, the primordial dragon Bahamut escapes from his lunar prison and triggers the Seventh Umbral Cataclysm, an apocalyptic event that destroys much of Eorzea. With the blessing of the gods, the player escapes the devastation by traveling five years into the future. While Eorzea recovers and is rebuilt, the player must contend with the looming threat of an invasion from the Garlean Empire from the north.

What is an MMO? Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) are a combination of role-playing games and massively multiplayer online games in which a very large number of players interact with each other in a virtual world.
