The balance between developing a strategy and executing it is different for everyone. Some people are wired in such a way that they don't need a strategy and change their execution as they go. Others need to plan everything in order so they know what to do. The important thing to remember is that both work, as long as you don't use the "strategy" as an excuse not to do something.
