Technology has changed the way we live and work over the past 35 years and has transformed many areas of our society. However, many schools are still organized the same way and are characterized by high dropout rates and high work pressure on teachers. However, stressful environments are not effective for learning. Does technology have the answers to these problems? Fortunately, some successful schools prove this. Jeroen Krouwels was a teacher but is now an EdTech entrepreneur. In his talk, he uses his own experience to describe why the transformation takes so long and how digital transformation will eventually happen on a large scale. Jeroen Krouwels was trained as a teacher in the 1980s but could not find a job. After retraining as an ICT expert, he dedicated his entire career to applying ICT in education and L&D. He is considered one of the founders of the e-learning industry in the Netherlands. Today he is the director of hihaho.com, a global layer technology platform for interactive video. He is also a guest lecturer at the Foundation for Corporate Education and SBO in the Netherlands, training teachers and L&D professionals on how to redesign education and training. As a guest speaker, he is regularly asked to share his vision on learning and technology.
