It's time to take your 3D printing to the next level and create your own designs. The steps are simple and the process is easier than you expect. I use the free version of Fusion 360 for modeling.

Creating your own prints involves four basic steps.
First, you need to figure out what you want to make. This may sound simple, but it is a very important step. I'll start with some functional designs that are helpful around the house. I wouldn't start too advanced with your first design. That way you won't get discouraged.
Second, sketch and measure. Digital calipers are cheap and make this step really easy. Also, don't think too much about your sketch. It doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to help you understand what you wanted to create.
Third is 3D modeling of your sketches. I use Fusion 360 because it's really powerful and creates simple designs easily once you get the hang of it. I would recommend skipping TinkerCAD because even such a simple design would have been much harder in TinkerCAD but would have taken 5 minutes in Fusion 360.
The fourth step is printing. I recommend printing at prototype quality, which means printing weaker and faster than normal, because your first draft may not work.
