A knit decrease is a simple technique for combining two stitches into one. You can use it to give shape to your fabric or add stunning patterns (especially in lace). Standard knit decreases slope either to the right (k2tog) or to the left (SSK). This is because one stitch is always on top, defining the slope as it is pulled toward the center.
Instead of decreasing on the right side, you can also learn how to decrease on the left side with purl stitches. P2tog and SSP are your best friends.
