A few episodes ago, I laid out my rules for effective daily stand-ups. And then I asked you for YOUR rules for daily stand-ups.

I was overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of your responses. They were too good to be lost in the comments section: they had to be highlighted. They had to be immortalized!

I've compiled them into a single document: Daily Stand-up Words of Wisdom. Download your copy using the link above.

Previously… I laid out my rules for effective daily stand-ups. And then I asked you for YOUR rules for daily stand-ups. And you delivered. Your rules were too good to be left in the comments section. They needed to be upvoted. They needed to be… immortalized! Change of plans —- This is NOT the episode I had planned for today. I had planned to go into more detail on one aspect of daily stand-ups based on your comments. And that was the problem: so many great comments. So many great ideas. After half-writing three scripts—or should I say three half-scripts—I realized I wasn't seeing the forest for the trees. The real value here is in the collection itself. So here's what I did: I took your comments, put them in one document, grouped similar comments together, and cleaned it all up in a pretty nice PDF. I called it “Wisdom for Daily Stand-ups.” It's a goldmine of solid tips and inspiration. And you can download it today. You'll find notes on: The benefits of standing The need to follow a system – whether you're standing on /"Yesterday-Today Blockers" or /"Walking the Board" The desire to keep it short – along with some very practical suggestions on how to /"keep it short" There are notes on: Respect and the need to keep it varied and fun In total, the document contains 35 comments. Three organizational points. Organizational point #1 —- You'll want to grab your copy of "Stand-up Words of Wisdom." You'll find a link somewhere in this video. Organizational point #2 —- In putting together "Daily Stand-up Words of Wisdom," I tried to curate rather than edit. I can say that I agree with most of the comments – but certainly not all of them. And that's OK. Organizational point #3 —– The document isn't finished yet. I plan to keep adding to it over time, so get in touch. Leave me your top tips in the comments below and I'll add them to the document and send out updates from time to time.
