Discover the secrets of creating a story world that will leave your readers wanting more! Learn 7 proven tips for building a fictional world, including unique concepts, a rich story, interesting characters, sensory details, tension and conflict, consistency, and showing rather than telling.

Tip one: Build your story world around a unique and interesting concept that sets it apart from similar stories. This will dictate the development of your characters, plot lines, and settings.

Tip two: Develop a rich history for your story world to add depth and realism to your story. Consider how the past, events, cultures and conflicts have shaped the present.

Tip three: Develop interesting and diverse characters. Characters with their own motivations, desires and flaws. Add depth and complexity to the story and make this world feel realistic and relatable.

Tip four: Bring your story world to life through sensory details. Describe the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of the world to make the reader feel real.

Tip five: Build tension and conflict into your story. Explore these through political, social or personal conflicts. Use them to move the story forward and keep the reader interested in the outcome.

Tip six: Keep the rules of your world consistent and don't deviate from them. This can help make the story world seem believable and logical and minimize disruptions to the reader's immersion.

Tip seven. Use character actions and dialogue to show your readers the world of your story, rather than telling it to them directly. Reveal your characters' personalities, beliefs, and motivations through their behavior, not through statements.

My goal is to document my writing processes and critique my short stories to analyze what I'm doing to improve my writing. I hope that as collaborators we can learn from our mistakes and improve our writing together by sharing my journey to becoming a published author!

In this writing vlog, I use writing prompts to inspire creative writing and improve my skills in narrative structure, dialogue, flow, suspense, and characterization. My end goal is to teach myself how to write a book, and I hope you'll stick with me on this journey!
