Similar to other high-level programming languages, Lua uses a “virtual machine” layer to interpret instructions and manage memory (garbage collection).
In this video, we'll show you how to write Lua code from scratch. After watching this video and practicing some of the code examples, you should be able to write Lua code yourself. You should install the development tools we introduce in this video, including Microsoft Visual Studio Code and the Lua and Code Runner extensions for VSCode.
Lua is probably not the best choice for general programming, although it could be used for that purpose if you wanted. Even though Lua does not support the concept of structures and classes, you can still create custom object types by using the /"table/" data type.
