You may be wondering – What is Cloud Computing:

#Cloudcomputing is a set of forms that contain certain elements that enable on-demand network access, scalability, and shared resources. It is a platform for managing, storing, and processing data online over the Internet.

Cloud computing features include:
– On-demand services – Available when you need them
– Network access – If you use the Internet as a medium
– Shared resources – All resources are consolidated and used by multiple customers
– Scalability – The ability of a computer system to adapt to increasing demands

The three deployment models:

Cloud computing offers various services based on three deployment configurations. When arranged in a pyramid structure, they are in the order of SaaS, PaaS and IaaS.

The three services:

#SaaS – Software as a Service

This service offers users pay-per-use on-demand application software and is platform independent. Unlike a paid licensing program, you do not need to install any software on your computer. A single instance of the software runs in the cloud, making it available to multiple end users, making the service cost-effective. All computing resources responsible for delivering SaaS are fully managed by the provider. The service is accessible through a web browser or simple client applications.

End customers use SaaS regularly. The most popular SaaS providers offer the following products and services:

Google ecosystem, including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Microsoft Office 365, and SalesForce.

#PaaS – Platform as a Service

This service is mainly a development environment that consists of a programming language execution environment, an operating system, a web server, and a database. It provides an environment where users can build, compile, and run their program without worrying about any hidden infrastructure. They manage the data and application resources. All other resources are managed by the provider. This is the area for developers. PaaS providers offer the following products and services:

Amazon Web Services, Elastic Beanstalk, Google App Engine, Windows Azure, Heroku and Force.com

#IaaS – Infrastructure as a Service

This service provides the architecture and infrastructure. It provides all the computing resources, but in a virtual environment so that multiple users can access them. Resources include storage, virtualization, servers, and networks. Most providers are responsible for managing these. When you use this service, you are responsible for managing other resources such as applications, data, runtime, and middleware. This is mainly intended for system administrators. IaaS providers offer the following products and services:

Amazon EC2, Go Grid and Rackspace.com.

Here is a short list of some companies that use cloud computing:

iCloud – Apple's cloud for Apple products. You can back up and store everything from multimedia to documents online. The content is then seamlessly integrated into your devices.

Amazon's AWS – When it comes to businesses using cloud computing, Amazon Web Services is at the forefront. The company offers IaaS and PaaS to all of its customers.

Google Cloud – This cloud platform is universal across Google’s vast ecosystem and other products like Microsoft Office. It provides data storage and collaboration, as well as other services included in the cloud computing suite.

Microsoft Azure – Offered by Microsoft, it provides SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS for its software and developer tools. If you've used Office 365, then you've used SaaS.

IBM Smart Cloud – This offers private, public and hybrid distribution platforms that deliver a full range of SaaS, PaaS and IaaS cloud computing services for enterprises. The pay-as-you-go platform generates revenue for IBM.

New technologies are popping up all over the internet and the cloud seems to be on the rise. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what is already available and what will become available throughout 2017.
