Bollards are used to prevent vehicles from driving through a building or wall. They are made of concrete and embedded in the pavement or ground. They serve as an immovable object. They are not a form of burglar alarm system. They are designed to prevent.

A motion sensor detects intruders through changes in a static environment. As soon as someone is detected, lights or sounds can be triggered.

Like photoelectric systems, light rays detect changes in light, for example in invisible laser beams.

Wave pattern burglar alarm systems can use ultrasonic frequencies to detect pattern changes. They send out a pattern, and if the same pattern comes back, everything is fine. If the pattern returned is different, something has changed or been detected.

CISSP Tip: IDS are designed to detect AFTER something has happened. It's like a detective investigating a crime AFTER it has happened. An intrusion detection system has no preventive, deterrent, compensatory effect or anything like that, it's a detective check. That's why bollards were not the right solution, they don't detect.

The correct answer is C
