How to think like a front-end developer
The job title of "frontend developer" is very real: job boards around the world confirm this. But what exactly is this job? What do you need to know to do it? You might think these answers are pretty straightforward, but they're anything but: frontend development is going through something of an identity crisis. In this exciting talk, Chris will explore this identity from the perspective of someone who has called himself a frontend developer for decades, but even more interestingly, he's explored it through many conversations with other successful frontend developers. You'll see how differently this job can be done, and how differently people and companies can think about this role – not just for the sake of the job, but because you'll learn to do your own job better by understanding how well other people do theirs.

Designers and developers share a common mission: to create great experiences. But communication between these two groups is not always easy. To bridge the gap between design and technology, we launched the Front Conference in 2011.
To create great digital products, we depend on each other: designers on developers and developers on designers. That's why we came up with the idea of a conference for everyone involved in the design and implementation of a frontend.
By staying at the forefront of both design and technology, we have grown into Switzerland's largest web conference. Our interests have broadened to reflect the increasing maturity of the industry. We now cover management topics such as design leadership, tech governance and UX strategy.
Our participants include both junior employees and managers, and we can bring important speakers to Zurich to pass on their knowledge in lectures and workshops.
The conference has become a place for learning and networking and we have many loyal professionals who return every year.
