The worst habits you have in your life were developed for a reason. The simple fact is that those actions or inactions, those behaviors, those thought processes, have provided you with a reward at some point in your life. There is every chance that they will provide you with a reward. Still. Now the problem is that when we keep getting rewarded for the things we don't like doing, we keep doing the things we don't like doing or that we wish we weren't doing.

It doesn't matter if it's a lack of behavior, dependence on something, aggression or anger, or relationship problems. If there are things you want to change, your life, the problem is not with the action, it's with your reward system. You have a system set up where you are rewarded for the negative behavior.

It may not feel like it, but somewhere deep in your subconscious there is a reward, most likely in the form of escapism or a chance to get out of your own head. If you want to change the problem, it's time you looked at your reward path and focused on new rewards, new systems and new processes.
